General Overview
La Torche is one of the most consistent northern breaks due to its unique geographic position and exposure to the strong Atlantic swells that hammer the coastline. The beach break offers a 200m long left wall and closer to the point a hollow right-hander. Due to its unique set-up a strong current the locals call "L'ascenceur" (the Lift) can be used to get out to the peak but don’t try to paddle against it, you’ll lose. Like in all rips you’ll have to find a wave to get in or if you’re without board swim away from the point and body surf in. When La Torche going-off expect it to be très crowded with every kind of boardrider, surfer and swimmer known to man in the line up. In spite of this the locals are generally a friendly crew. A great wave but a bit too well known. Secret Spot Policy
