General Overview
La Dunes is another Vendee coastal villages turned into a quaint French tourist resort. It also benefits from the Atlantic Ocean swell machine and has a very nice long stretch of beach with a variety of spots to surf a usually mellow wave that is perfect for longboards.
In the spring of 2008 the Oxbow World Longboard Tour enjoyed La Dunes waist to chest high surf.
During the summer months the crowds arrive, as does the predictable on-shore wind that knocks down any wave action.
When a strong autumn or winter swell is hitting, this mellow wave can get gnarly leaving snapped boards and unprepared surfers strewn on its sands. Secret Spot Policy
