General Overview
The Gironde estuary is formed from the merging of the Dordogne and the Garonne rivers and as such is subject to very strong and dangerous tidal currents.
Just south of Gironde is the popular but quirky beach break at Soulac where there is an active local surf community. This spot works best on big swells producing better then average hollow tubes usually held up by consistent off shore winds.
Take care in the line-up as the afore mentioned rips and ocean currents dominate the polluted waters. Watch out not to bump into “le petit flotteur” ! Secret Spot Policy
