General Overview

The good news is there is surf in urban Santa Monica. The bad news is that the surf is inconsistent, generally lacks shape, and the water quality is one of the worst in the state. Your best chance at scoring some decent close to shore waves is if you are there early for the dawn patrol. Generally closed out, this break does best with a crossed up swell and defined sandbars soon after a good rain. The only reasons to surf here are if you live near by and want to get wet before you go to work or if you are a beginner.

Pretty nice actually. Waist high with offshore winds. But it's raining. Couldn't pick a nastier place to surf post rain, though Imperial Beach in San Diego would give you a run for your money....

Waist high close-outs, but nothing too new for this spot....

Other than the "No Nadar" signs and the closeout sets, this place was great today. Okay, so this was not the spot today....
